About Osteopathy

Osteopathy is a form of manual therapy which works with the structure and function of the body, to help restore balance and aid the body’s innate ability to heal itself. As osteopaths we recognise that much of the pain we suffer from is due to abnormalities in the structure and function of the body, as well as damage caused by injury or disease.

Osteopaths aim to restore your body to a state of balance using touch, physical mobilisations, manipulations, stretching and massage to help increase movement in your joints, relieve muscular tension and enhance the blood and nerve supply to tissues.

Mel particularly likes working structurally and looking at how different areas of the body can affect the area of pain. She also likes to work closely with strengthening exercises, as she believes that a lot of chronic pain conditions can be kept under control with the right exercises.
