Osteopathy is a form of manual therapy, which works with the structure and function of the body to help restore balance and aid the body’s innate ability to heal itself.
It is believed that the well-being of an individual depends on the skeleton, muscles, ligaments and connective tissues functioning smoothly together. Osteopathy recognises that much of the pain that we suffer from is due to abnormalities in the structure and function of the body, as well as damage caused by injury or disease.
Osteopaths aim to restore your body to a state of balance using palpation, physical mobilisations, manipulations, stretching and massage to help increase movement in your joints, relieve muscular tension and to enhance blood and nerve supply to tissues.
Osteopaths can also give advice on posture and exercises to help aid recovery and help prevent further symptoms from reoccurring.
